Tips for Eating Organic Strawberries
Strawberry beds use straw for winter mulch. Now you know where this little red berry gets its name. Strawberries are loaded with Vitamin C (149% daily value) and are a good source of Folate, Potassium, Manganese and dietary fiber. It’s hard to find a more glorious fruit than a strawberry at the height of the growing season (April through July). Everbearing varieties are available and will produce fruit until frost.
Tips for eating organic strawberries: Slice and layer, alternating with blueberries and plain yogurt, in a tall glass to make a satisfying yet healthy treat. Or, freeze individual strawberries on a flat surface then pulse/chop frozen berries in a food processor; add yogurt, milk or cream through the top opening while the food processor is on, and you have a delicious frozen dessert!
