Mary Tombelli

Mary has been growing and tending gardens as long as she can remember, starting with her Nonno and Nonna’s garden in Michigan, where she was born and raised, and continuing as she attended Thomas Aquinas College in California. Throughout school and during the summers she pursued multiple jobs on local farms and in ornamental gardens, experiencing the beauty and wonder of many different methods of growing and varieties of plants, with a special interest in native species and organic practices.

After earning degrees in Theology, Philosophy, and Analytical Mathematics, Mary moved to Connecticut with her husband, Dominic, where she returned once more to farming full-time. She has greatly enjoyed exploring the many beautiful hikes in New England, as well as pursuing old homesteading traditions such as animal husbandry, experiments in food preservation (a sourdough and kombucha fanatic, to say the least), as well as sewing and crocheting all sorts of amusing items for her nephews and niece. She also loves reading, and exploring old book stores, especially if there is a sleepy cat to be petted.

Mary is delighted to be a part of the Homefront Farmers team, and to share her love for beautiful, edible gardens and whole-hearted stewardship of the earth!
