Taylor Matzke

Taylor’s journey into agriculture started over 12 years ago on a small family farm in North Carolina, Beans N’ Things. It was here that she learned the importance of local food communities, and met her first mentors in homesteading. Her agricultural journey has taken her to the Catskills, Bahamas, Hawaii, Northern California and landed her back here in CT after years of traveling and learning different growing methods and systems.

A certified Master Gardener with the UConn Extension Programs, Taylor has managed vegetable and flower growing operations for 5 seasons at Millstone Farm in Wilton, and helped design and build small farms all over Fairfield County. She has supplied local CSAs, chefs, markets and private clients with CT grown harvests, and is an experienced livestock hand as well.

Her long-term goal is to have her own flock of sheep and have a community textile and fiber art studio at her house. Taylor’s dream is to start a seed saving library for future generations, and help support native plant restoration projects.

Taylor lives in Wilton with her sister and her dog, Pepper. She loves walking, making flower arrangements for friends and connecting people within her community.
